Food plots for whitetails?

I want to plant a food plot in my woods. I would like to plant a perennial. I can cut a few trees down to allow for more light, but it will be shady. What is the best type of seed to plant, and from what manufactures. I will not be able to use a tractor or other large equipment it will be all by hand. Any ideas?

Check with the DNR. The usually have a list of plants and habitat that would work well for the area you live in. Just an FYI, it is now illegal in NY state to do any type of feeding of deer because of chronic wasting disease, they outlawed any deer feeding as of last year. Might be that way where you live, as well.
