does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with diffucult customers?

I work in a Tractor salvage yard as a parts rep. Most of the people are upset before they come to me because some sort of their machinery broke. They will end up spending money to fix it, and nobody wants to do that. I’ve been to a customer service seminar, to tell you the truth, the gentleman speaking didn’t really answer my question. Anyone have simmilar problems?

I assume your dealing alot with farmers. They are a breed all of their own, and they don’t like to spend money on things they think they shouldn’t have to. many of them are usually upset at the high cost of replacement parts and it has an impact on how they treat you. that is why they are coming to you for cheap parts and they always feel they should be cheaper than whatever you charge for them. I try to deal with them in a light hearted way they best I can and not let them get under my skin. But, there will always be that “one” and he is the one that I wait on and get out of the store as quickly as I can. And it is always better if you make them feel like they are getting a good deal whether they are or not. Most of all try not to take anything personal.
