16 horse Brigs and Straton no spark?

Hi everyone I have a 16 horse brigs and straton engine it is an old cast iron engine that goes to an old simplicitytractor and i am restoring this tractor but i cant seem to get a spark out of this engine. i just put a new magneto in the engine because i thought it was that but i still got no spark. This engine does not have a coil so it isnt that. any feedback would be appreciated. : )

when u fitted the magneto, was it the flywheel type? in there, will be a set of points.. check them [you can see the points usually through the holes in the side of the mag.. ] make sure you have a gap setting…
these points feed the coil inside the magneto which creates the spark
make sure there are no broken wires to any of it too.
and somtimes on old engines the h.t. cable will fray and earth out the current.. check this too. where it comes out the engine block…
another thing to change along with the points will be the condenser.
